Venomous snakes are, quite simply, a part of the natural environment. Unfortunately, in remote regions, they are part of the workplace environment.
As a consequence, employers and employees need to know how to deal with snakes in the workplace. Employers have a duty of care under the Mines Safety and Inspection Act 1994 to "..so far as is practicable, provide and maintain a working environment in which that employer's employees are not exposed to hazards.." Where a hazard exists, employees must be protected. Venomous Snake Relocation Training can be conducted as a one (1) or two (2) day course. Trainees engage in up to fourteen (14) contact hours learning about snakes and handling non-venomous and venomous snakes. The training course starts with a broad overview and appreciation of the biology of these truly amazing reptiles. This is immediately followed by familiarization with live snakes and then handling techniques. Reptiles by Request has a very well considered approach to training and our Trainers are able to imbue others with an admiration and respect for some of the world's most venomous creatures. The West Australian Reptile Park (www.skp.com.au/reptiles.htm) provides the snakes for such presentations. Engaging Reptiles by Request for your venomous snake relocation training helps to support a local wildlife conservation park, and that is a great bonus. Advance bookings are required for venomous snake awareness and snake relocation training. Don't be afraid to call. We don't bite! |
